Ranked #1 in Indonesia PGA and Player of the Year for 2011 and 2012

Born in 1988, Rory Hidayat Hie had a successful amateur and collegiate career in United States, where he played for the University of Southern California (USC Trojans), and helped elevate USC to a top three collegiate golf team standing in the nation during 2007 and 2008.

The Balikpapan-born golfer enjoyed a solid campaign in 2008 with three amateur wins and one professional title. His maiden professional tour win came at his home soil, in the 2008 Mercedes International Championship, remarkably only a month after he turned pro. After winning several tournaments in the home circuit, in 2011 Rory won the Tangshan China PGA Championship, becoming the first ever Indonesian golfer to win a professional tournament outside of Indonesia.

Before turning professional, Rory was ranked 6th in the 2008 World Amateur Ranking, and was previously the #1-ranked junior in the United States at one point. In high school he claimed a share of a record only matched by Tiger Woods when he won both the Southern Section CIF and Southern California CIF titles in the same year.

Rory turned professional in late 2008, and later became the first Indonesian golfer to earn full playing rights in the Asian Tour and a conditional card in the European Tour. His best finish to date on the One Asia Golf Tour are runner up positions in both the 2011 Indonesia PGA Championship and the 2011 Indonesia Open, where he came close to winning both tournaments.

Rory picked up the game at the age of six before heading to United States, where he joined the American junior circuit and became the top-ranked and one of the most scouted for junior golfers in 2006. In 2006 he was among the #1-ranked high school graduate in the US, ultimately earning him a full scholarship to the University of Southern California. Rory earned first-team All-American selection in NCAA Division I Collegiate Golf, was named the 2008 California Amateur Player of the Year, and was a Ben Hogan Award Semifinalist and part of the All-Nicklaus Team, among other notable awards. His father Tommy is his personal coach and part time caddies for Rory.
